Wan Ying is a Malaysian-born composer, arranger and producer based in Los Angeles.
She started taking piano lessons at the age four in the Yamaha Music School in Kuala Lumpur. She has also received a high level of Grade 8 awarded by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) based in London. Despite her non-musical family background, Wan Ying discovered her passion for music and decided to pursue it as her life career. She enrolled into the Berklee Transfer Program (BTP) at the International College of Music (ICOM) in Malaysia in 2008. In 2010, she was accepted into Berklee College of Music and majored in Contemporary Writing & Production and Film Scoring. Since the start of her Berklee life, Wan Ying has been writing, arranging and producing songs in various genres, ranging from pop to visual medias, for class projects. As her musical side grew, she realized the power of music to move the world and that reassured her that she has chosen the right path for life.
Now based in Los Angeles where the largest music industry in the world is based, Wan Ying is currently working with J2, a world renowned producer, as a composer and junior producer where high quality music is produced. Together as a team, they have produced "J2 Immortal", an album featuring edgy original music in the epic style which the world has not heard before. Her recent work with J2 is featured in The 5th Wave International Trailer.
Wan Ying also had the privileged to score "Cursed to Remain" as an additional music composer, an indie short film by Bryan Jackson, a renowned director and also an outstanding professor at University of Irvine. She also worked on a short film "Hamper" by Alex Verlage, a talented student filmmaker at Boston University.
